WORKING TOGETHER TO RECOVER R1.5 MILLION
Working as a team, OF&A's technical and criminal investigations departments recovered R1.5 million worth of goods for a distribution company.

OF&A were called in by the company when senior management felt convinced that well-organised theft was taking place, but needed professional assistance in identifying the criminals.

Initial investigations alerted OF&A to the need to monitor the warehouse and the processing of orders. It was at this stage that the technical team became involved in the investigation, installing a closed circuit surveillance camera in the warehouse and monitoring the phone extensions used to take orders. This was all done with the permission to the client, who then monitored the video.

The criminal team from OF&A then proceeded with a test purchase to order goods and trace their source.

The criminal investigators were able to use the audio and video evidence gathered by the technical team, combined with the own investigations, to prove the acts of fraud. OF&A identified a so-thought loyal employee of eight years who was liaising as an intermediary between illegal street buyers and clients. This led the investigators to the criminals and the stolen goods. With an official search warrant in hand, OF&A together with the SAPS recovered R1.5 million worth of stolen goods.

Ockie Fourie comments, "With all this solid evidence, our investigators were able to solve the case in just five days".
