Telephone Tapping Tales
TELEPHONE TAPPING TALES
One of OF&A's clients was involved in a litigation recently, and his courtroom adversary must have thought it a good idea to tap his phone in an attempt to gather information that might be useful.

However, the client had been a victim of this type of illegal surveillance before, and when he heard unusual crackling noises on the phone line and noticed the instrument rang rather erratically, he put two and two together and called in OF&A.

OF&A's first step was to sweep Mr X's house electronically to ensure that there were no monitoring devices concealed anywhere. There were none.
After further investigation, they found a tape recorder linked to the client's line outside the premises and confiscated it.

An important point, "If you suspect your phone or office is being bugged, do not report it to OF&A from that number or room. If you do so, you are giving the people responsible an opportunity to recover their equipment and so remove the evidence. It is vitally important to call us from a from a different location."
