STICKY FINGERS
Petty cash poses a temptation to many employees, irrespective of their loyalty and otherwise upstanding moral values.

OF&A was called upon to establish the identity of the perpetrator who had stolen a substantial amount from their company's petty cash box.

This was not the first time that the theft of petty cash had occurred, but the thief had not previously been identified.

A seemingly very difficult task presented itself to OF&A, as all the suspects would have handled the box at one time or another, thus fingerprints would have had no value. There were no witnesses, and employees were reluctant to point fingers at colleagues.

With the assistance of a polygraph examination, the suspect was isolated after failing her examination. After interrogation by the OF&A experts, the suspect confessed to having stolen the money.

This proves that the polygraph instrument is a powerful tool for guiding the investigation. However, the end result still relies on the professional interpretation and competency of the examiner.
